About Stepping Stone Stays

The idea for Stepping Stone Stays originated from having successfully boarded overseas travelers in the past few years, who tell me how difficult it is to find somewhere to stay in advance of arriving in a country outside of booking expensive hotels. These travelers have modest needs of clean and safe board in local private homes, homestays or cottages to base themselves while touring a country.

I have friends that travel abroad who find the same problem of not being able to find somewhere to stay in advance of arriving in a foreign country outside of booking expensive hotels. It is too sad to hear some travelers need to sleep in their cars in some places while traveling your beautiful country, because hotels are too expensive for the length of their stay and they don't know of anyone in the country that can put them up.

The aim of this website therefore is to enable travelers to plan their accommodation by making contact with the local people in advance, who are able to offer clean and friendly accommodation to overseas travelers, help them feel safe and welcome them to their country - in other words, provide travelers a "stepping stone" on their journey.

There is No Charge to travelers or accommodation providers for a basic listing here. However although I have built this website myself which did not cost me anything apart from my time, this website as with all websites needs to be hosted and I need to pay for hosting to keep this website going, so I have to ask for a nominal fee if you want to go beyond the free basic listing offered and have a homepage on this site or have a website of your own.

Stepping Stone Stays also offers a Free listing for grown-ups wishing to "Share the Load" by having a flatmate share their home or someone to flat with. Young people can go flatting but when you are older it's not so easy to find another grown-up to flat with or Share the Load.
