Wellingtonians have been taking the opportunity to go over the Rimutaka Hill to the always popular Martinborough Fair every year to browse the stalls and enjoy a great day out - "The Last of the Summer Wine" - before winter sets in.
A visit to the Martinborough Fair is well worth it and is an event not to be missed!
How to Get to the Martinborough Fair
Martinborough is a 75 minute drive from Wellington via SH2, and 15 minutes from Featherston and Greytown. It is a 25 minute drive from Carterton,(via Ponatahi Road) and 40 minute drive from Masterton (via either Ponatahi Road or SH2).TranzMetro rail operates weekend services to Featherston, and north to Masterton. Check with TranzMetro about times, fares, and transfers from Featherston.
Bus companies in Wanganui, Feilding, Hawkes Bay, Palmerston North, Wellington, and Taranaki operate charter services subject to demand.
