Communication/Networking for over 50s

People have been writing me from all over New Zealand to get something going to network people and exchange skills, lend a hand, share the load and make a friend. There's a lot of us around who live alone and have to pay for every single thing we need doing around the place. Long gone are the days of the tight-knit communities where our neighbourhood rally round and help one another - these days we are lucky if we even know our neighbour, let alone ask to borrow their hubby even for some very minor task. Dial a hubby is out there but how many of us can afford it?

Women are still living longer these days, so a lot are widowed, divorced, separated or just choose to remain single.

Briefly, someone wrote:

"I love my garden but it would be so much nicer to have someone to work with occasionally to do the boring bits - then I could come and help with theirs for a similar length of time, and we'd probably share lunch or tea (wine?) as well."

That person even offered to be the Taupo Coordinator if a regional setup comes to fruition. Just think - it could lead to travel benefits (see couchsurfing.com) or along the lines of Urban Woofing Helpex but on a national/older scale.

So if this hybrid of an idea appeals, please get in touch with me through this website by clicking contact below, so I can start something going.
